On June 4, according to a study released by the National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA) and the Energy, Poverty and Climate Center (CEPC), U.S. household energy bills are expected to rise 7.9% this summer as extreme heat increases cooling costs.
NEADA and CEPC said that household electricity bills in the Mid-Atlantic region and West Coast states are expected to see the biggest increases from June to September, up about 12% from the same period last year.
The Midwestern states and parts of the southern United States may also see sharp increases of about 10%, the organizations said.
