According to the Dubai Water and Power Authority, as of the end of March, a total of 6,700 buildings have installed photovoltaic power generation systems, driven by the country’s policy to encourage photovoltaic installations. The total solar power generation capacity of these solar photovoltaic systems is approximately 298 MW. This figure shows that since September 2019, approximately 190MW of net metered electricity has been added. The rapid growth in the number of solar system installations shows Dubai's strong interest in residential and commercial photovoltaic power generation.
The UAE’s goal is to achieve three-quarters of its total solar energy system from renewable energy sources by 2050.
